Hedley Cooper was born in Addingham, England, and came to the United States in 1920. An alumnus of Guildhall in London, he studied violin with John Dunn, Albert Dunford, Henri Verbrugghen, and Arthur Payne, and served as the concermaster of the Llandudno Symphony in Wales. Cooper taught at Trinity University when it was located in Waxahachie, and was the concertmaster of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra under Paul van Katwijk in the 1920s.
